The Artist Daria Pasechnik

Daria Pasechnik’s artistic practice stems from an interest in the transformation of images as they migrate from digital space into physical reality. Initially, she worked with the representation of digital imagery, exploring the boundaries between the virtual and the material—between the screen plane and the painted surface. Over time, her focus shifted: rather than representation, she became increasingly drawn to direct presence. Today, her practice centers on real objects as autonomous narrative elements. She is fascinated by their ability not only to occupy physical space but also to construct new semantic fields. Through the object, she engages the viewer’s associative memory, inviting them to co-create a fictional yet tangible world. Materiality, in this context, becomes a form of resistance against the devaluation of the bodily and the physical in the digital age. Working with physical objects allows her to restore a sense of reality as a constructed, multilayered system of interactions.

After graduating from the Faculty of Advertising, she pursued additional training in drawing at the Surikov Art Institute. She began her artistic career in 2019, actively participating in exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg. She lives and works in Moscow. She has participated in the contemporary art fairs BLAZAR (2023) and ArtMoscow (2024) and is a graduate of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Joseph Backstein (2024). Her primary medium is airbrush painting on canvas.
