An honored Russian artist.

Sergey was born in 1959 in Karakul (Chelyabinsk region). He finished the graphic faculty of Chinese pedagogical college. In 1995 he had an internship in the Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin. 

The assistant professor of the Ural Branch of the Ilya Glazunov Academy of painting, sculpture, and architecture. Actively participates in many Russian and international conferences; developed innovative electronic-methodical painting courses. His students are successful participants in Russian and international competitions.

More than 300 artworks by Sergey Kostylev are held in museums and galleries in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Perm, Kurgan, Omsk, Shanghai, Harbin, and in private collections in Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, the USA, and Canada.

Sergey Kostylev achieved high results in the field of easel painting, securing the status of a great master working in all genres. His works demonstrate the vivid skill, the individuality of writing of an established artist, his name is widely known outside the Urals. The artist devotes his work to the glorification of Russia. The Ural theme stands out most vividly in his easel artworks "Ermak", "Reception of the Demidov's by Peter I."
