For the first time RakovGallery presents an exhibiton of the artist Nikolai Petrov in Yekaterinburg. The exhibition includes large paintings created in the best traditions of Russian Realism. The free and vibrant energy of brushstrokes in the paintings corresponds to the fact that Nikolai Petrov, like many other representatives of Realism in art, mainly works 'en plein air,' directly in nature.
The exhibition presents a series of paintings demonstrating the extraction of one of the most demanded natural resources of our planet - oil. The artist was born and raised in Alametyevsk, in the Republic of Tatarstan, and dedicates his paintings to the nature of his native land. In landscapes, not only Nikolai Petrov often shares the beauty of plains and forests, but he also depicts the proud verticals of oil rigs. Such landscapes are definitely the "visiting card" of the town of Alametyevsk, located not far from the largest oilfield of the Volga-Ural oil and gas province in the south of Tatarstan.
Nikolai Petrov masterly applies the classical technology of oil painting. Fascinated by the realistic method in depicting nature, the artist paints not only the scenes related to oilfields. The exhibition also features his landscape studies and views of villages. Some of his landscapes convery lyrical atmosphere, and are striking with their freshness and purity of colour.
