In honour of the anniversary of the city of Yekaterinburg foundation, the RakovGallery presents a new exhibition, which includes paintings by various artists. Among the artworks are oil paintings and watercolors. All artworks are dedicated to the views of the capital of the Urals.
The exhibition "A Stroll around Yekaterinburg" may be compared to an excursion in which each of the artists shares their perception of the city with the viewer. For example, in Zhanna Sidorova's paintings and Natalia Dmitrieva's watercolours, Yekaterinburg is shown as a romantic city, full of blossoming flowers. The artist Andrey Bichurin paints the industrial capital of the Ural as a colourful place with beautiful architecture from different periods, while Alexey Efremov subtly captures the poetic side of Yekaterinburg, regardless of the weather and season. Cloudy winter days in his paintings may look slightly dull, but they are still full of lyricism.
Contrary to expectations, not all landscapes included in the exhibition depict sights, which are instantly recognisable. For example, the paintings by Alexander Remezov and Sergei Prokhorov show Yekaterinburg from unusual angles, lead the viewer to the unfamiliar streets of the old city centre. The impressionistic manner of the Omsk artist Sergei Prokhorov forms a new image of Yekaterinburg and invite viewers to take a fresh look at the familiar urban landscape.
The exhibition "A stroll around Yekaterinburg" presents a variety of views of the capital of the Urals, executed in different techniques and styles.
