From June 12 to July 12, RakovGallery presents an exhibition of paintings by Andrei Mamaev, a St. Petersburg painter. The exhibition presents 14 paintings by the author in the period from 2017 to 2021. A distinctive feature of the works of Andrei Mamaev is the carefully worked out details that complete the integrity of the composition of the works. The thinnest tangled tree branches, barely noticeable movements of every blade of grass, restless waves, or snow-capped mountain peaks - the artist conveys the state of nature using a special painting technique. Graphic lines set the dynamics and rhythm inside the paintings, thereby "animating" the depicted landscapes. In his works, Andrei Mamaev refuses the usual interpretation of landscapes. They resemble a theatrical stage, where all the lighting is directed at the "main heroes", be it mountains, a chapel, or coastal stones. The rich color contrasts with the muted shadows; it gives the impression of volumetric space on the canvas. Andrey Mamaev acquaints the viewer with the nature behind the scenes, focusing on both the whole picture and the fragments that form it. To purchase works, please contact the gallery staff.
