Abstract surrealism in Yevgeny Guselnikov's painting
There are not many examples in art history that could relate to abstract surrealism. It happened because pure abstraction, without any hints of figurativeness, already contains elements of surrealism. After all, surrealism also overcomes rational aesthetics and uses fantastic forms. The artist's brush is not guided by the mind, it`s impulsive.

In the work "The fourth dimension" we see significant fields of pure colors. It`s a feature of abstractionism. The plot, however, is surrealistic. The artist tried to depict a complex mathematical phenomenon, in which there is no concept of time, and people are able to create their own reality. The picture conveys a sense of instability, mystery.

"The awakening II" - Evgeny Guselnikov
His brighter and more cheerful paintings, such as "The awakening II", "The morning", "The theater of two columns", "The regatta II", also combine the interweaving of abstraction with barely caught objects of our reality. In the painting "Morning" Guselnikov very accurately conveyed the feeling of the awakening of the universe in the early hours. Everything is waking up, is being filled with the energy of the becoming. The colors match the mood of the painting: they are soft and pleasant. In the painting "The theater of two columns", the magic of theater is conveyed. In the center, the figure of a clown or a harlequin is guessed. There are no clear objects around him - everything is intertwined, spinning in a dance of light. The viewer seems to enter the world of magic. In the painting "The Regatta II" the artist tried to depict the way dolphins see our world. So the sails, the waves are more like rainbow stripes.
