Art critic's comment
The artist's pieces are made in the best traditions of the Russian school of painting. Technical mastery and high professionalism of the artist are combined with the sense of harmony and joy of being, which makes his artworks popular among art collectors.
The lyricism of landscapes and traditional Russian female images are emphasised by the freshness and purity of colour, as well as the artistic technique of visually capturing a moment, reminiscent of the legacy of the artist Philipp Malyavin, in whose work features of Impressionism are present. Nevertheless, Valentin Korotkov's own artistic style is recognisable due to the combination of dynamic brushstrokes and strict, verified composition.
Similar to the representatives of the Russian school of painting, Valentin Korotkov spends a significant amount of time working en plein air. The artist produces portraits and landscapes, he is equally interested in the depiction of nature and the urban environment.
