The exhibition includes paintings by Evgeny Dorokhov, belonging to several different series. In his artworks, dedicated to the boundless space, ancient stones of Lake Baikal and archaeological discoveries, the artist literally addresses the Infinity. Regardless of the theme of the series, Evgeny Dorokhov's pieces are characterised by a deep interest in research, as well as in the timeless, eternal categories of the world and space around us. Using a unique author's technique, the secrets of which the artist does not fully reveal, Evgeny Dorokhov experiments with textures, applies paints in multiple layers, creates a texture that enhances the effect of contrasting lights and shadows and conveys the puls of colours in a new way.
The series of paintings "The Star Rain" or "The Walks across the Universe" are dedicated to space and impress with their scale, texture and unexpected combinations of colours. Consciously rejecting the realistic canon, Evgeny Dorokhov expresses in his abstract pieces his personal understanding of the Universe as the living organism. The main characters of the series dedicated to the geology of Lake Baikal are the ancient stones. Creating majestic images of Baikal stones, the artist perceives them as the witnesses of antiquity and the keepers of the secrets of Existence. Similarly, in these artworks Evgeny Dorokhov rejects the figurative approach to images and applies the expressive language of abstract art. However, at the same time, in the "Baikal series" the artist uses a more restrained colour scheme.
