The exhibition presents a series of paintings 'Herbs of Olkhon Island' by the artist Yuri Pervushin, which is exhibited in Ekaterinburg for the first time. In his paintings, the artist reflects on the timeless and endless beauty of Nature, paying special attention to its most simple and common features.
The main artistic idea, which has prevailed in the artist's pieces for a number of years, remains unchanged: Yuri Pervushin glorifies the quiet poetry of Nature, depicts foggy meadows, overgrown with grass, and the banks of rivers and lakes. However, in his new series, the artist explores the natural phenomenon of the largest island of Lake Baikal - Olkhon Island, the ecosystem and flora of which had been untouched by glaciers since ancient times. As a result, individual plant species in this unique area have remained unchanged for many millennia, and remain so to date; and it is up to us to preserve the flora of Olkhon for future generations. That is why the fragile beauty of herbs and the timelessness of Nature, which so impressed the artist during his trip to Olkhon Island, served as the theme for an independent series of artworks.
The rhythm of the composition in the paitnings depicting the herbs reveals viewers the secrets of Olkhon Island - one of the largest sacred centers of the entire northern shamanic world. Not only these artworks create the atmosphere of calm, but they also encourage to appreciate the primordial power of nature and the harmony of herbs gently swaying in the wind. Immersing the viewer in a meditative state, the paintings from the series 'Herbs of Olkhon Island' subtly convey the spirit of the area and the beauty of the largest island of Lake Baikal.
