The exhibition presents the paintings, which reveal the artist’s religious, philosophical and existential ideas. In her artworks, Olga Gorbunova combines the features of Surrealism and Symbolism, reflects on ancient cultures and their connections with the present, and shares her own emotional experiences. In fact, the artist masterly combines these seemingly conflicting components, without overloading either the compositional or semantic structure of the artworks. This is due to the fact that the painter’s approach is based on a deep understanding of key stylistic movements, as well as on the important artistic and religious-philosophical aspects.
Olga Gorbunova was born into the family of the famous Omsk artist Nikolai Grigorievich Gorbunov (1952 - 2012). Since childhood, she was surrounded by the creative atmosphere of an art workshop. Olga had begun drawing since childhood, she graduated from a children's art school, and then from the Faculty of Arts at Omsk State Pedagogical University, with a degree in Easel Painting. The combination of creative upbringing and professional education contributed to the development of the aspiring artist and allowed the artist to develop the foundations of her own style.
Each of her paintings Olga Gorbunova enriches with a philosophical concept. The artist uses symbolic images which contain certain cultural codes and are instantly read by the viewers. Olga Gorbunova's exhibition "The Alchemy of Life" is the premiere for Yekaterinburg. The artist’s paintings will be presented to the Ural audience for the first time.
