The art project "Smooth and Graceful" brings together paintings and original graphic art pieces by the artist Anastasia Popova. The exhibition presents artworks from the new series, in which the artist rethinks the beauty of nature and continues developing her own style. In these paintings, the landscapes are full of simplicity and almost recall abstract pieces. Depicting the endless sky above the smooth, mirror-like water surface, the majestic mountains and forests of the Perm region, as well as the expanses of fields and meadows, the artist uses close tones that enhance the softness of pictorial transitions in the paintings. As a result, the compositions of paintings look harmonious, and the artist achieves the impression of the integrity of nature and the unity of its elements.
In the new artworks, Anastasia Popova continues developing her recognisable style, she applies wide, covering brushstrokes and sometimes experiments with expressive colours. Large spots of colour and smooth tonal stretches convey a feeling of calm and tranquility. Consciously refusing to detail and use realistic techniques in her pieces, the artist creates a general image of nature and aims to depict not the literal features of a specific area, but its spirit and atmosphere, and, most importantly the state of nature. Anastasia Popova also achieves similar effects in her pieces of graphic art. Despite the small formats of these artworks, in her original graphic art pieces the artist conveys a feeling of complete immersion in nature, and reveals to the viewer the fascinating mystery, scale and beauty of nature.
