About the artist
Yuri Vasendin was born in 1958 in Arkhangelsk. He graduated from the Arkhangelsk Art School in 1975. His work is rooted in the traditions of Russian realistic painting and images of the Russian North.
Landscapes predominate in the artist's works: northern forests, meadows, marine motifs, and views of old Arkhangelsk. His paintings are characterized by an attention to the mood of nature, expressive color, and a poeticization of everyday scenes.
Yuri Vasendin's works have been exhibited in Arkhangelsk, Moscow, and St. Petersburg and are held in private collections in Russia and several other countries.
