The problem of ecology as a new trend in contemporary art
What is the peculiarity of eco-art? Artists are primarily aimed at preserving or restoring the natural environment. They often can use its elements. But the main thing is to draw attention to environmental problems, an attempt to inspire dialogue and change. Some artists strive to study the unusual relationships of nature through art. Others attract environmentalists, activists, stimulate rehabilitation projects, try to reestablish the ecosystem. Many artists engage viewers and raise awareness of disasters. Such projects rarely leave anyone indifferent, some even contribute to significant changes.
Exhibition "The Coming World: Ecology as a New Politics. 2030 - 2100"
A large-scale exhibition “The Coming World: Ecology as a New Politics. 2030 - 2100 "(until December 1, 2019). Contemporary artists, theorists, and activists explore our relationship with the environment. The exhibition itself is divided into three modules: evolution, atmosphere, water. The first module raises important questions about mutations, species extinction, etc. The second module is even more significant - the guests will plunge into environmental disasters, see the impact of technology on humans, and understand what kind of air they breathe. The third module is about water, its role in the world. But what happens to him on the planet? How much space of the world's ocean is polluted? The project is directed towards the near future, because soon it may be too late to ask such questions.

Equally important is Olafur Eliasson's "In Real Life" exhibition, which runs until January 2020 at Tate Modern, London. The Icelandic artist has been working with the theme of ecology and nature for a long time. In 2018, Eliasson placed a piece of a real Greenland glacier at the Tate, which was melting in front of viewers and thereby demonstrating the problem of global warming. In reality, this problem exists somewhere far away, where an ordinary resident of the city is unlikely to get. Art in this regard is able to bring closer and show the scale of the disaster. The current exhibition will feature thirty of the artist's most significant works.
