Nature of the area. The personal exhibition of Maxim Kaetkin
About the artist
About painting
Studying the nature of the terrain, types of fields, junction road, Maxim Kalkin far from capturing pure landscape. The heir to the romantic tradition, he brings in an aesthetic category sketches, motifs from everyday reality, using painting trying to comprehend the circumstances of life, to find the art in the environment and fix all with the help of artistic means.
"Find a problem where it has not been searched for. Focus on aspects that may be obvious to other artists, but not to me. Try to refract perspective and optics in painting, as they did in movies and photography. The problem, it would seem, is already decomposed. Bringing the frame to Suprematist clarity, extreme expressiveness. It helps me to find my interest" Maxim Kaedin .
About the exhibition
During the XX century, so much technology was produced that it is already self-sufficient and self-valuable for painting. The artist is able to convey admiration for the subject world, which has passed the test of time and is familiar to every Soviet person since childhood. Kaetkin talks about his works as a portrait of collective memory-the motives of his landscapes really have a strong effect of recognition, because they depict the corners of their native land with great persuasiveness, stability, and generosity.
The exhibition "Character of the area" contains works of the last five years, during which Maxim Kaetkin thought and worked in the same way. The artist does not refer to this project as completed: it is constantly changing, there is a plan to continue working in this direction. This is a project of a large part of life, the so-called "epic of the outgoing coast".
