The exhibition presents about 40 paintings and graphic art pieces, most of which are exhibited for the first time. The works are united by the artist's philosophical reasoning about the universe. The author reflects on the philosophical categories of macrocosm and microcosm, and concludes that a fragile flower may be no less significant than the whole planet or galaxy. Developing this concept, the artist depicts a sunflower or a dandelion flower as a universe. Russian landscapes by Yuri Pervushin are notable for their colours and new subjects, which the artist developes in his paintings and pieces of graphic art. A series of paintings with colorful yachts, for example, was inspired by a trip to the Netherlands. Remaining true to his aesthetics, in these works Yuri Pervushin notes that he deliberately left his usual, silvery-white color scheme, seeking something new and more colourful. In his new artworks, Yuri Pervushin enhances contrast, adds depth and dark colour spots, which play an important compositional role. Despite the fact that this affects the recognisability of the artist's manner, he is interested in experimenting and developing in the new direction. Graphic arts takes an important place in Yuri Pervushin's work, as he graduated from the graphic faculty of the Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. The series with views of the outskirts of Saint Petersburg, for instance, is entirely built on half-tones. Each piece is painted in layers, the artist uses oil and acrylic on paper, sometimes with addition of pastels. This technique allows the artist to create a complex 'geography' of the surface of his works and to convey the vibration of space. To purchase the artist's works, please contact the gallery staff.
